Beverages: flagged vs preference-friendly
Drink labels split into sparkling water with almost nothing on them, and punches that stack a syrup, a preservative, and two or three dyes. Diet versions often swap the syrup for sucralose and acesulfame potassium. That swap is still a preference match, not a free pass.
Brominated vegetable oil is uncommon on new US citrus sodas, and the matcher still looks for the printed phrase. Citric acid and phosphoric acid are not in the V1 avoid lists.
